About a week ago, I was walking to my car from work when I saw the craziest thing, a college student was riding a John Deer lawn mower to class. Wait, what? Is this legal? The student was not driving the lawn mower on grass. He was driving it on the street as if it was a car. Why would someone think that doing this was publicly acceptable? Is this a new trend? Can you be considered a productive member of society when you make the decision to ride a lawn mower to class?

Thursday, Sept. 19

When USC holds football games at their stadium, it tends to get really crowded. When the game gets out, the police block one side of the road off and let traffic go only one way. Why do they block one side of traffic when clearly two lanes open would allow traffic to flow faster? Assuming that the cops have a valid reason for doing this, why wouldn't USC come up with a better system to get traffic flowing?

Tuesday, Sept. 17

I've heard many students talk about how USC distributes parking passes to a certain amount of students each year. The concerns of these students are that there are not enough available parking spots to be occupied by the students with parking passes. When there are special events occuring in the Collesium, it seems to be that parking becomes almost impossible. Is USC aware of the amount of parking spaces they have in correlation to the amount of parking permits they give out? Why does the dean of USC  find it acceptable to close off student parking lots when we pay for parking permits? Does the dean think that the students who pay to go to school and also pay for a permit are less important than the guests who attend the special events?

Yellow pollen was everywhere in Columbia, S.C. around the months of May and June. I wonder why May and June are called allergy seasons? Following these months, the end of August and the beginning of September come around and there is no pollen, but they are still referred to as allergy seasons. Who, then, decides when the allergy season is? What causes an allergy season? Is there a certain criteria that determines what dates are a part of allergy season? Finally, when does Allergy season end?

I wonder why dogs like to urinate near a fire hydrant. Maybe they like the way it looks, or maybe they like the sound of running water when they are urinating? Well, there happens to be a huge fire hydrant statue in Columbia S.C.. Why would someone decide to build a huge fire hydrant statue in Columbia? Does it represent something? I wonder how much money was wasted on the creation of "a bathroom for dogs" and people wonder why were in a recession?

My mother called me today to tell me about what her friend's daughter had done. Her friend's daughter was 5'6" and weighed 187 pounds. However, the daughter is now 5'6" and 107 pounds. It should come as no surprise that she became anorexic. More specifically, about six months ago she wanted to find a way to lose weight that was faster than simply not eating. She thought that if she became pregnant and didn't eat, that the fetus would eat her body fat. My question thus would have to be, how could someone use a baby to lose weight? How desperate does someone have to be to do something as shocking as this? Where could she have possibly gotten the idea to do this? What could have been going through her head in order to resort to such drastic measures?
